  1.  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
  2. XXXXXXXXXXXXX>Retina Z2 driver V1.1< for ShapeShifterXXXXXXXXXXXX
  3.  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
  4.
  5. ------------------------------------------············ ·  ·    ·
  6. RIGHTS: This driver is fully freeware.
  7.         It may freely be distributed.
  8. ------------------------------------------············ ·  ·    ·
  9.
  10. This is an External Retina Z2 driver for ShapeShifter3.2+
  11. It will crash when used with ShapeShifter-versions before 3.2!
  12.
  13. If you have a RetinaZ3-board,better use the special driver
  14. for Retina Z3.
  15.
  16. To use the driver, you have to specify the refresh-rate at
  17. ShapeShifter.Use any value (e.g. 10-40),but remember that too
  18. frequent refreshes slow down the Mac-system.
  19.
  20. Two versions are provided:
  21.              -- "Retina Z2": for low RAM and slow CPUs
  22.                                       without 32bit-RAM
  23.              -- "Retina Z2_doubleRAM": for high ram(twice as much
  24.                                         RAM is needed than above)
  25.                                        and faster CPUs WITH 32bit-RAM
  26.                                        (68030/25Mhz is at the brink of
  27.                                         getting the gfx faster with this)
  28. "Retina Z2_doubleRAM" is faster because it only updates the changed
  29. gfx in the Retina-mem(for example only the mouse-pointer if nothing
  30. else changes).Yet,in this case the Macs Video-RAM is processed in
  31. Amiga-Memory(->RetinaZ2=16bit Amiga-Mem=32bit)
  32.
  33. This driver supports: - 8Bit  (256 colours)      <-recommended for slow
  34.                                                    Systems with low RAM
  35.
  36.                       - 15Bit (32768 colours)    <-best for Speed combined
  37.                                                    with Hi-colors on fast
  38.                                                    Systems with much RAM
  39.
  40.                       - 24Bit (16777216 colours) <-for True-color but no
  41.                                                    speed because of Z2
  42.
  43.
  44. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  45. If the Screen can't be opened,there are 3 possible reasons:
  46.
  47.    -lack of Amiga-Memory(->don't use the doubleRAM-version
  48.                               & use smaller resolutions
  49.                               & less colours)
  50.    -lack of Retina-Memory(->use smaller resolutions
  51.                               & less colours)
  52.    -Resolution not enabled in RetimaMonitor-settings(->check the
  53.         settings at 8/16/24-bit-colours and see if the resolution
  54.         defined there isn't lower than the one you tried at ShapeS.)
